Intro:

Hello PTA families and welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am so excited to work together with you all to create an amazing environment for our students. PTA aims to elevate the school experience by supporting our teachers and providing opportunities and experiences outside of the normal school curriculum. We will be asking for your support throughout the school year because parent volunteers are the backbone of the PTA. Kids absolutely love seeing their parents involved at school and we can’t provide all our amazing experiences without you. Thank you for choosing to take part in our community – we can’t wait to get started!

  • Back to School Night
    • We would love helping manning the PTA table so that we can introduce ourselves and the PTA membership program to new parents!
  • ❗️Hallowingo
    • Hallowingo is our largest event of the year and we need a LOT of volunteers to make it happen! Please reach out ASAP so we can plan a get together and get to work!

Advocacy:

Superintendent Reid has crafted a Family Vision Group – a large group of parents where the goal is to have one to two representatives for every school in FCPS. FCPS has large district wide goals in order to increase their outreach in the community and improve student success from PreK to the post-graduate level. The school representatives are liaisons between the individual schools and FCPS to encourage communication between the two and keep everyone in alignment with the 7 Year Strategic Plan

I was fortunate enough to attend the kick off meeting in August for the FCPS Family Vision Group as a Lees Corner representative. Going forward, I will be joined by our second representative, Rebecca Cannie.

Please feel free to come to our first PTA meeting with questions, concerns, and commentary about the FCPS Strategic Plan. I would love to hear what input our community has on the matter!

Sincerely,
Torry Steele
PTA President
